NTAK - National Tourist Data Communication (for catering establishments)

20/07/2024

Under the current regulations, all operators of catering businesses (restaurants, bars, fast food outlets, pubs, hotels, other accommodation providers) operating in Hungary - i.e. their owners or tenants - must register their catering business with the NTAK.

Solutions

Basically, all sales are made through the NTAK software, with the differences between the tools.

1. a computer or mobile device (Windows or Android, possibly iOS) system with a receipt printer or cash register equipped with a Fiscal Unit. The software complies with the NTAK obligation, the receipt printer communicates with the NAV

2. a computer or mobile device (Windows or Android, possibly iOS) with online cash register. The software complies with the NTAK obligation and the cash register communicates with the NAV.

In the second option, the computer or mobile device is not always connected to the cash register, but there are developments where this can be easily done.

The simplest solution is that the catering software generates a QR code, which is read by a QR code reader connected to the cash register, either from the monitor or from a printed receipt, and the data is transmitted both to the NTAK system and to the NAV.

The fortunate situation in the domestic market is that software vendors have started to address this in time and have contacted cash register manufacturers/wholesalers.

There are software that can work with several different types of cash registers, e.g. StajerFood, Juta-Soft, KOFA, ByThePay, etc., but there are also wholesalers who are thinking about their own software solutions.

As the options depend very much on the nature of the catering establishment and the operator's expectations of the software, please contact me on one of my contact details for more information.
